Scrapbooking Fun with Washi!

Mark and I have been married for six years now, and I have finally finished our FOUR scrapbooks.  One may say that:

• I'm crazy
• I had a hard time whittling down from the 1000 photos our photographer took because she was that good
• I had invested in a LOT of fun wedding paper and embellishments
• I didn't know when to stop

and you would probably be right!  The four different scrapbooks are:

1. ceremony
2. reception
3. formal photos
4. informal photos from engagement to honeymoon

I also have a bridal shower scrapbook.  (Whaaa??)

Anyway, this page is from the informal scrapbook.  It's my washi tape page:

I used three different washi tapes and a black filigree tape detail.  The photo is in between a black paper with white filigree and a transparent piece with black and white filigree.  I was excited to try to make a washi page!  I do like the way all the details frame the photo and make it the center of attention--and of course I love the photo!  :)

OK, I can't help it!  Nox is just too darn cute!  If you don't like things that make you smile or happy, then you may want to turn away.

He is adjusting pretty well.  There are a lot of things that seem to be new to him.  The other day he really didn't want to go outside in the rain--he seemed afraid of it!  He also doesn't seem to enjoy car rides (a dog that doesn't like car rides--that's crazy!).  Here's Mark trying to encourage Nox to stick his nose out the window:  

We (all of us--including the cats) are adjusting to not only having a dog in the house again, but to having a puppy.  Right now he is pretty underweight, so his bladder control isn't very good yet just because he's still so small.  But he's put on four pounds since we got him, and he's up to waiting for three hour before going outside at night.  The first bacteria he had from the humane society is gone, but he's picked up another one from freshwater.  He's part lab, and being near water gave him a parasite.  Figure that one out!

He is learning his basics pretty well (come here, sit, lay down, and leave it), but Mark is excited to take him to puppy class to work more on his basics and also for socialization.  Mark's long-term goals for Nox include agility training on an obstacle course!  Right now Nox is not that coordinated, and very leggy, so I don't know if that is a feasible future.  :)

Introducing Nox!

For months now we've been getting our puppy fill by going to the Humane Society of Huron Valley and playing with or taking dogs for walks.  There are have been lots of cuties needing a family, but none struck us as the one to join our family.

And then everything changed.

We've been feeling a bit antsy lately about finding the right dog for us.  We've been scoping out golden doodle breeders online and also rescue puppies from petfinder.com.  We knew about a Petsmart program, Rescue Waggin', which brings animals from kill shelters down south to no-kill shelters, but we kept missing the new pups that were being brought to the Huron Valley Humane Society.  So, feeling very determined, we found out when the next few arrival dates were.  About two weeks ago was a new arrival, and we found him!

Nox: An Awesome Puppy!

Nox (Latin for night) is 13 weeks old.  The shelter he came from thought he was a flat-coated retriever / hound mix.  If he doesn't get the long hair of a flat-coated retriever, then he's probably a labrador retriever / hound mix.  Sadly, we've heard Nox howl once or twice, so we believe that he's part hound.  So far he's a pretty laid back puppy (he does get pretty energetic and rowdy sometimes, but we bought lots of toys for him, and we have the nice, fenced backyard), and we're glad he's here!
