Summer Projects

Siding is so slow. Maybe that is because we're new at it, and we're slow, but we thought we could at least get the front of the house done during the summer (and optimistcally we hoped we'd finish the garage as well), but things didn't get that far. Working on the stone took a lot of our weekends during the summer (and late into the fall--we were still siding as long as the temp got into the 40s or 50s during the day), but we did manage to get some siding up. Below are some photos of the garage just as we were finishing up the last of the siding on the front.

I love how cute our little port-hole window is! And we picked some pretty classy light fixtures, if I do say so myself. :) We did finish the rest of the siding on the front of the garage, and worked a bit on siding and trim on the right side of the garage, but we got sidetracked mostly by the stone, and a second large project, adding drainage around the front of the house (I'll post about that later).

In the photo above you can get more of a feel for the color of the siding with the stone. (Please ignore the stacks of stone and siding supplies that you can see inside the garage! One day those will be gone.) It looks really nice, and every couple of weeks when we're heading to work or just getting home I have a nice satisfactory feeling about how good our home will look when we finish with the siding project.

Here's a finished picture (although the soffit isn't done yet):
