I'm Losing My Marbles Reprise

Thank you to those who telepathically sent my marbles back to me while I was working my shift (it may have been Becky, who suggested that I not work too hard--good advice!). Anyway, it worked, because when I got home this evening I found my drivers license AND the iPod (which I was really worried I had lost, and disappointed since I'm expecting to get an iDog for Christmas). To those who accidentally sent me their marbles to replace mine--don't worry, I'll make good use of them!

I'm Losing My Marbles

So, we have been so busy lately, it has been crazy. We're almost settled on a reception venue (when we do those in the know will know). I'm way behind at work because two weeks ago I was at the American Anthropological Assocation conference (in San Jose--mmmm, warm weather), and last week was Turkey Day. On top of all that (and on top of trying to do Christmas cards--so far a failed attempt), I recently got a part time job at The Oasis to help earn extra cash for the wedding. It's a nice place to work (doesn't require a lot of brain power, per se), but it is exhausting, and tonight is my fourth night in a row (I don't usually get scheduled like this, but I offered to cover for someone yesterday who had a family emergency). So, because my mental capacity is nil, I have so far lost my driver's license, and misplaced (hopefully not lost) Mark's iPod (incidentally, Mark's iPod is the only thing that keeps me sane at work!). Hopefully nothing else will go wrong before tomorrow, when I'll get to sleep in (just a little) and then relax tomorrow evening (hopefully going in for a free soak at Oasis).

If you see any loose marbles rolling around, please mail them to me so I can make my head work again!

Did You Know...

Arizona is the first state to reject a ban on gay marriage. Seven states still approved a ban, but given the outcome of a now Democrat majority Congress, and Arizona's rejection on the ban, it seems like we're making baby steps. Of course, here in Michigan we approved Proposal 2, which banned Affirmative Action. Now white middle class men really don't have to worry about staying on top. And thanks a lot to all those middle class women in Rochester Hills, etc., who apparently don't care about women being doctors or lawyers, or getting into college. (Gah! I've never been more embarrassed for my gender.)

Liberal IS a Good Word

So, have you been dying to meet that perfect single Democrat? If you've been looking for the internet's liberal dating service, then search no more! As they say on the website,

Democrats, Greens, Vegetarians - Progressive singles of all flavors meet at Democratic Match!

Does this include dirty hippies?

Imparting Party Values

So, if you were wondering what you should get your neices and nephews this Christmas, chances are, you will want to get Why Mommy is a Democrat, a children's book that goes through all the things that Democrats, like mommies, do and value. Nothing like a little political party propaganda to let the ones you love know that you love Democrats!

Remembering the White House Correspondents' Dinner

So, this happened back in April, but I was just refreshing my memory about Stephen Colbert's harsh satire from the White House Correspondents' Dinner. I think he had a lot of guts to say a lot of those pointed jokes, and Stephen Colbert has certainly become a popular critic, like John Stewart, from The Daily Show, and Lewis Black (some of my favorite political comedians). Colbert had a huge internet following after the Dinner, which I didn't realize at the time, but in retrospect I'm not suprised. Here was finally someone standing up to the President and pointing out all the falsehoods, and not being a "yes-man." Colbert has certainly joined the ranks of liberal icons.
