KoL

In July I was probably the coolest I've been in a long while. I went with my sis-in-law to see the Kings of Leon at Pine Knob (known as DTE to the youngins). I hadn't had that much exposure to Kings of Leon before the concert, but I have to admit, seeing them live was pretty cool.

After the standing ovation they played a couple of encore songs, including the two I actually knew ("Sex on Fire" and "Use Somebody"), AND there were fireworks. It was pretty impressive.

Maker Faire!

This is a bit after the fact, but we've been so busy both at home and at work, that it's been hard to keep up on the posting. At the end of July the Maker Faire came to the Henry Ford Museum in Detroit. It was a lot of fun to walk around and see all sorts of random things, including this "time machine." (If you've seen The Big Bang Theory, you might remember the episode where they buy the time machine prop and time share it.)

Other things that could be found at the faire included various knitting/crafting items, organic foods, robots, CNC machines, robots, military technologies, and (of course) steam punk items. Here's Mark sporting a steam punk gun:
