I'm Embarrased to be a Woman--Again

I don't know where this image came from, but someone in my office sent it to me, and I totally agree. Women unite!

Salt Lake City

I was in Salt Lake City for the SACNAS conference two weeks ago, and I saw this odd pig/beehive sculpture. Ironically, while I was in Salt Lake City, it was in the 50s and lower, snowing on the morning I flew back to Michigan, where it was in the 70s.

It's Fall

Last week we went to my parents' house for some fall fun. We took a hayride, went to a cider mill and enjoyed apple cider and donuts, and then picked a half bushel of apples. A half bushel is something like five dozen apples, so between my parents, my brother, and Mark and I, there were plenty of apples to divy up. So, I used some apples to bake my first apple pie. It was delicious!

The Upcoming Election

So, Mark shared this link with me, which I think gives you a really nice look at how the candidates match up with you on certain topics. What was nice to know is that Barack Obama agrees with me on 10 issues (including the S-CHIP health care issue, the war on Iraq, the legalization of abortion, the mortgage crisis, alternative energies and climate change, universal health care), while John McCain only agrees with me on 4 issues (which were the issues alternative energies and climate change, subprime mortgages, and the GI Expansion Bill). So, looks like I'll be sticking with my choice.

Wanna Go Bowling?

Last week I went bowling with some of my Oasis pals, and these are the day-glo bowling shoes I got to wear. By the way, I bowled a 100, which is pretty much a miracle for me.
