A New Oven!

While we were searching for our new fridge, I would take a peek at the ovens because we knew once we installed our new kitchen stovetop we would be without an oven.  So we needed to find a stand-alone oven. And one day we found a double oven for an excellent price!  So we bought it and had it delivered home, and it sat and looked pretty in our kitchen until our old oven started to die, and we knew we were finally going to need the new one.

Mark was going to build a cabinet to put the double oven in, but happened to stop at the Habitat for Humanity and found this nice cabinet for only $40!

(Yes, it's the wrong color, but it saved a lot of time, money, and effort! :)

Mark had a few minor adjustments that needed to be done, but the cabinet must have held a double oven originally, because the opening was *almost* the right size.  I had to help him move the double oven into the cabinet, and that was very difficult (this required a lever and building up wood beneath the oven in order to raise it to the height of the opening).  That thing is heavy!

And here is our lovely, installed, oven:

Having the double oven has been real handy!  We used it at Thanksgiving and Christmas, plus I bake a lot of quiches, etc., so I use our oven quite a bit.  :)

A New Stove

A few years ago we bought a new kitchen (yes, 2 islands, about 10 cabinets, and a gas stovetop), which we have not yet installed.  In between buying this kitchen we weren't using and now, our oven became unusable.  Every time we used the oven we could smell gas.  So we knew it was getting to be time to get rid of the old stove:

(It was a hideous stove anyway, so I was looking forward to getting rid of it!)

But to use our new stove, we had to install it somehow.  So, Mark bought tile and made a countertop.  He installed our new gas stove in one of our new cabinets:

He did a really nice job with the tile, which goes really well with our cabinets!  We really like the new stove, and Mark is thinking about doing more countertop in the kitchen with this tile, which I think would make a nice accent!
