Halloween

Even though we were busy working on stone and siding on the house, we did take a little time to celebrate for Halloween. One evening we carved pumpkins with Katie and Mariel, and my parents. Here are the pumpkins we came up with:

(That's a dragon, Jack Skellington, and a scared face, in case you couldn't tell.)

My parents and I also passed out candy on Halloween. It was chilly, so we had a small fire in our fire pit again. Here we are trying to stay warm around the fire and eating some soup:

There were lots of good costumes, and we also got some compliments on the house.

Shirvell Alert

For once the system seems to have worked. Andrew Shirvell was fired from his job as Assistant Attorney General. There are lots of other bad eggs out there in political office, but at least this one really did get the boot. As a side note, if you haven't seen this interview of Shirvell on the Daily Show (entitled "Look Who's Stalking") you should watch it. It's very funny! :)

You Don't Know Jack!

Meet Jack. He is a kitten that was dropped off on our street about two months ago. We found him in the garage trying to get into the house. Our intentions were to take care of him temporarily until we could give him away or take him to the Washtenaw Humane Society, but he was just too darn cute! So, we have an addition to our family. Jack is short for Jack O'Neill Stargate MacGyver. :)

Jack clearly was from a home, because he was litter trained and is super friendly. His favorite games are to attack toes, and to play with Nerf arrows down the stairs, carry them back up to the top, and start all over. He gets along with the rest of the cats, and Octavius and he are particularly good friends. Welcome Jack!
