Another Mouse in the House

Posted by Picasa

So, we're not sure if it was the same mouse or a different one, but we had another encounter with a mouse in the house over the weekend. We were hanging out in the living room, and I noticed Ceilidh playing with (what I thought was) a toy. Then all of a sudden the toy tried to run away and I realized it was a mouse. Mark was able to throw a tupperware container over the mouse to capture it. We made up a small cardboard box with shredded material and a dab of peanut butter, and then drove the mouse across town and left it in a relatively sheltered place near some trees. I was hoping the cats didn't hurt the mouse too badly, and the mouse would have a good chance of surviving in his little mouse house, but in either case, we definitely didn't want the mouse to try to sneak back into OUR house.

Good luck little mousie! Invite your friends to come visit you!

Our New Kitchen

So, we finally were able to stand the pantry up in the kitchen (since it was the exact same height as our ceiling, we had trim the top of the pantry down, which is fine, because it has additional height for appearance). I was so excited I decided that I deserved to be organized in the pantry!

And here's a picture of the pantry (minus the doors and the hinged shelves) starting to get a bit full. Mark had the great idea to put some of our china in the wine rack section, which looks quite nice! Because there are still the hinged shelves to add in, and the doors (which have more shelves on them), I don't think we're going to fill up the pantry quite yet. But I'd like to try!

A Mouse in the House

This very poor picture is the best I could do with 3.8x zoom from across the room and standing on a chair while Mark tried to coax this mouse towards the front door and out of the house. Mark and I thought it was odd how intrigued the cats were with beneath the oven and then beneath the piano. Turns out it was a mouse. We thought it might be a field mouse, and it was awfully cute. However, now we're paranoid there might be more in the house (Mark found what looks like mouse tracks in the snow getting in the garage), so we got a few live traps to see if we catch any more.

The Perfect Christmas Gift

Mark made this beautiful picture for Christmas for me. It features all the animals (I love Octavius jumping up at the moon!), which makes for the perfect picture, because I had really hoped we could get a wedding photo with all the animals, but it just wasn't possible. It's the first picture we've got hanging in our new home!

A Kitty in a Basket

No, neither cat is supposed to be where they are, but Neko has started the bad habit of getting up on the dining room table (to look out the window), and Octavius thought this basket was just perfect for sleeping in.
